About How to Start a Business

Those of us that live in the United States of America are far more lucky than most of the people in the rest of the world. We live in the “land of opportunity” and most of us don’t even realize it. This is the best country in the world for giving people the opportunity to lift themselves up from the economic level they were born into and rise to a higher economic level (sometimes to the level of the Very Rich). The rest of the world already knows this but many of us who were born here do not. People all over the world go to great extremes just to get here to pursue that “American Dream.”

If you have the dream of someday owning your own business I am here to help you fulfill that dream. That is the reason I started First BusinessAdvice.com. I want to share my knowledge and business experience with you. In many ways I consider myself to be just a very average person with a good attitude (most of the time). My parents were very middle class most of my life. My mother and father both worked so our family could make ends meet. My father was a long time company man; I call him a “long hauler.” His advice to me was go to college, get a job with a big company, and stay there until retirement and your life would always be financially secure. That was just not for me as I am a “short sprinter” not a “long hauler.” I wanted to have more right now than more much later. Possibly that is the way you feel.

My father lived through the depression and I grew up in the nineteen forties and fifties so for that reason he and I had different risk tolerances and financial goals. He passed away when I was twenty one so he never got to see any of my financial success.

I started my first real business when I was twenty five, made a lot of money for a very short period of time. I was not totally prepared and failed. I started my second business at the age of twenty nine better prepared and have been successfully operating for forty years. I have started from scratch twelve different businesses, generated millions of dollars in sales and made my family and me a very comfortable living. By being in business for myself it has given me the freedom and money to travel to many wonderful places around the world and achieve most of my hopes and dreams. It is my belief that we can get you started in the right direction to do the same.

The biggest fear of starting your first business is…how do I take that first step, what comes next and what if I fail? I will show you a very simple way to approach the entire situation. It has worked for me on my businesses three through twelve and it can work for you. Don't think starting a business is rocket science because it is not. I am just a very average person (probably much like yourself) willing to help others fulfill their dream of having your own business.
